ISIS Trek For Kids Humla 2010

Would you hike through the rugged, remote and high altitude Himalayan Mountains to help children in serious need in the developing world? Our the team of intrepid individuals are doing just that from 01 October 1- 15 October 2010 to raise funds for, and awareness of, The ISIS Foundation’s work in Nepal.

The Kathmandu Kids Club is organizing a fundraising trek to Nepal in October 2010. The Trekkers will complete an eight day trek through the little travelled north western mountainous province of Humla, Nepal, touring areas served by The ISIS Foundation and its partner non-governmental organization charities through its projects in that region. All travel costs will be paid by individual trekkers and each trekker aims to raise a minimum of $10,000 in sponsorship. Trekkers will undergo months rigorous physical training and mental preparation to take on the challenge of hiking at elevations of 14,000 feet for up to six hours per day. One of the motivating factors for the trekkers in preparing for this expedition has been the fact that they will have the chance to see where their fundraising goes and to meet the children whose lives they will positively impact.

Every person in Bermuda can play a part by sponsoring a trekker and 100% of funds raised by the trek will go directly to projects run by The ISIS Foundation to help children in serious need in Nepal.

In 2008 the XL Charity Challenge Everest Base Camp Trek team scaled to Everest base camp, an altitude of 17,900 feet and raised over $200,000 for Kathmandu Kids Club and The ISIS Foundation. In no small part, due to the kindness and generosity of Bermudians, the successes of the Kathmandu Kids Club’s fundraising treks are quite extraordinary and we’re hoping that people will support the ‘ISIS Trek for Kids’ and become part of this amazing sponsorship of a community in a developing world by our island community. Although the club aims to raise $200,000 through the trek’s sponsorship again this trek, another purpose is to raise awareness of “an extraordinary relationship” that is taking place between the Nepalese communities and Bermuda.

To sponsor a trekker go to the “Donate Now” section of the KatKids website and under “Donation Type” select your trekker under the campaign donations.
