The Kathmandu Kids Club Presents:

KatKids Christmas Market 2011

• Date: Friday, 2nd December
• Time: 5.30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• Venue: Mount Saint Agnes School Auditorium

Such as our markets in the past, our stalls will be filled with unique arts, crafts and jewelry all direct from Nepal and Uganda. Bruce Barritt hosts our live and silent auctions, offering you the chance to haggle your way for that special Christmas gift. The mulled wine and Christmas Carols will bring the festive spirit to one and all and the evening will light up as Bermuda Donquili, African Dance troupe, take to the stage. The Crazy Wednesdays will rock out the end of the evening and do not forget the non stop happy hour drinks.

For all that’s on offer, the $10 cover charge makes this night an absolute must attend. Tickets can now be bought online on www.premiertickets.bm, while there will also be tickets on the door from 5.30 p.m. cash only. However, it is recommended to buy in advance to avoid disappointment as tickets are limited.

All net proceeds go directly and undiluted to The ISIS Foundation projects.

The key purpose of our club is to support The ISIS Foundation and The ISIS Foundation (UK) in their work helping Nepalese children in serious need, as laid out in our Mission Statement. By joining our club, members make a direct and positive contribution to ease the plight of children in a country ravaged by poverty and overcoming the effects of a very recent civil war.

Thousands of Himalayan children have been forced by civil war from the safety of their parents’ homes. Many of these children arrive at the capital, Kathmandu, in an appalling and desperate state, suffering from malnutrition, disease and shock. Other children, unable to leave the mountains due to poverty or lack of resources, are at serious risk of dying from easily preventable diseases. We have heard many stories, direct from Nepalese children, which are too awful for most people to fully absorb.

The Kathmandu Kids Club takes pride in eliminating local administrative costs, often a burden to other charities. In the true spirit of charity our club is run by a fabulous team of professional Volunteer Managers and people working as support staff and on various sub-committees, who have kindly donated their time. This means that 100% of the funds we receive through our membership fees and donations arrive in Kathmandu undiluted, offering maximum positive impact on the children and the people caring for them.

Our parent organisation, The ISIS Foundation, has highly competent and experienced staff on the ground in Nepal, and they ensure that all funds received in Kathmandu are allocated where the money can best be put to use. We also believe in total transparency, and every cent donated to the Kathmandu Kids Club will be accounted for by our Finance Director, and posted to our website for all our members to see.

Please save the date and join us for an inspirational evening to celebrate the fifteen men and women who bravely participated in the ISIS Trek for Kids Humla 2010

This event will be held at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Friday, March 11th at 6:00 p.m. with presentations starting at 6.30 p.m. This will be a unique opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from the trekkers who took part in this challenging and life-changing journey through the remote mountains of Nepal. Hear in detail their rigorous sixteen-week training program, the intense conditions faced on the trek back in October, and the humbling experiences they shared with the Nepali people.

The trekker presentations will be followed by a complimentary glass of wine and canapés to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Kathmandu Kids Club (KatKids). Guests can learn more about the projects KatKids has supported through ISIS over the past five years and our famous market stalls will be open, selling beautiful handmade items from Nepal and Uganda. Attendees interested in becoming a KatKids member or those looking to renew memberships will also be able to do so.

KatKids and ISIS would like to thank everyone for attending and volunteering at this year’s Christmas Market. The evening was a HUGE success with over 600 people attending and bringing in approximately $60,000 during the evening!
