A Little Help, A Little Hope

A Little Help, A Little Hope“A little help, a little hope” charity auction was held at the Goslings Wine Cellar on Thursday May 17, 2007.

The long-awaited second Kathmandu Kids Club event took place on Thursday, May 17, at Gosling’s Wine Cellar on Dundonald Street, Hamilton from 5.30-8.30 p.m. We auctioned a whole heap of one-offs from the generous heart of Bermuda’s community including paintings, sculptures, water-skiing lessons, weekend holiday packages and signed Bermuda World Cup cricket shirts. Auction items also included some great pieces straight from Uganda, Africa including beautiful original pieces of jewelry, arts and amazing Batik wall hangings.

A fab time was had by all. Guests enjoyed complimentary wine and refreshments while they meandered around our market-style auction and our African sales stall where we were selling fabulous authentic Ugandan jewellery and artisan crafts. Everyone got to learn a little bit more about the Kathmandu Kids Club from our displays and our team, as well as finding out more about The ISIS Foundation’s work in Nepal and Uganda from a brief talk by ISIS co-founder Sharon Beesley. Our auction was hosted in dazzling style by the brilliant Ed Christopher. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, our generous contributors and the hard work of the Katkids Event Team and Katkids Managers, we raised almost $40,000! Proceeds from the sale and auction of African goods (about $16,000) will go the The ISIS Foundation projects in Uganda and the balance will be sent to support The ISIS Foundation’s projects helping severely disadvantaged children in Nepal.
